Hi Will, def not a science whizzer but the 2 objects at 7 and 53 seconds are the ones that cannot be explained by brownian as they are travelling (schitzofrenetically - new term) in a stationary fluid. The others being focused on could be argued as brownian but personally i doubt thats the case their either.

More or less my interpretation as well. Most other objects are essentially stationary. Could be a size difference thing I guess, but the movement we do see is very erratic. Plus, three moving objects in center-field seem almost attracted to one another, and then the appear to stick together. Think I'll definitely work to recreate this with better resolution.

The erratic movement may be spirochetes. They move like that.

Hey Will I do not believe that they are Browniam movements. Most of what you show look like different organisms. That side to side jittery moving ones could be spirochetes. Too bad they are out of focus. I saw an experiment some years back where a friend put a blood sample slide in a petri dish that he put a sealed in nipple on it. He sealed the outside of the dish with tape and then put a vacuum hose on it. He pulled a vacuum on the dish to remove all the oxygen. Then we waited about 15 to 20 minutes with the vac still on. Then he opened it and put the slide on the darkfield scope. Tons of spirochetes came wiggling out of the red blood cells. A doc friend Dr Jerry Tennant MD has lectured that Lyme Dx has gone airborne and that 80 percent of the population has it but doesn't know it. I saw this demo 3 times in succession.

Will some of the tiny movements could be Protids or Chylomicrons. Not clear enough to judge. Play with that focus some more. I sure had to when I started my journey looking at my own blood. I'm so glad you have jumped into this microworld. Keep up the exploration it will get better!

Hi Patti. Thank you for your thoughtful comments. They've given me a few things to investigate and rule in/out. Sorry for the poor focus. While I'm certainly new and light on experience, in this case I think I'm up against the limitations of my toolkit. I'm utilizing a phone-camera mount and pairing that with digital zoom on a 30yo optical microscope (BH2). Seems that no amount of fine tuning will offset the glare and blur that comes when trying to capture movement at this scale. Hopefully I'll be upgrading my kit slowly but surely.

Oh and I'm using a homemade darkfield filter too. Definitely hope to aquire a true condenser at some point soon.

You might have dirty lenses on the turret. They need to be taken off and cleaned especially if you use oil immersion and if stored for a long time. They can get just dirty from use and need to be cleaned. Check out how to do it on YouTube. I invite you to follow my Substack.

Just be very careful with the turret lenses. There are right and wrong ways to clean them.

That's what paralyzes me with fear. I got a steal of a deal on my kit, and I don't want to bung it up! And many of my pieces don't seem to be produced anymore.🥶

Don't be fearful take action learn how to clean those lenses properly then just do it. Don't take them apart. First step is a good cleaning.

Will I just thought of something else. Take a rubber bulb and squeeze the air into the lenses to blow away the dust. Then take lense paper with a little alcohol on a q tip wrap the lense paper around the q tip and gently clean the glass on the lense. Oil immersion lenses will take a little more time to clean then non oil lenses.

Thanks Tony. Your thoughtfulness and consideration are much appreciated. Have you entertained joining David Nixons substack group? I may have already asked this, and I'm definitely not trying to solicit for his venture, but there's a real meeting of the minds taking place there twice a week and I think you'd be a welcome addition. Something to consider, my friend.
