The first observation that struck me when examining Flonase allergy, was how identical it looked in appearance to other kinds of nasal decongestants I’ve examined. The same characteristic fields of evenly distributed granuals interspersed with dense bubbles has appeared in multiple formulas. Considering how the different products are ostensibly intended to address different symptoms, I had expected to observe substantially different appearances between product samples. Visual distinctions did eventually make themselves evident, and I hope to highlight such differences in subsequent posts and images. Given that this particular product sample had its expiration in 2021, I had hoped to observe potential differences in manufacturing when compared to current-day products. Although I have not had the opportunity to examine this same product with a more contemporary manufacture date, the similar appearance to other nasal decongestants leads me to think that the formulas are all relatively similar and haven’t undergone changes in their visual appearances over the past few years.
No observable crystallization takes place in the drying process. The small crystalline objects are present from the moment of application and they do not seem to coalesce or otherwise change their appearance very much. The exception seems to be the unique spiral pattern that developed from my week-old sample. I will continue to observe the fresh sample for similar developments. More to follow.
